Bolt Catches

Bolt Catches

The bolt catch has two functions in the case of electric airsoft (AEG) guns.

The first variant works as an imitation, which serves to protect the hop up chamber. This type is extended by a kind of hook, which then fits into a small part on the mechabox. It is connected to the ejection window so that the imitation breech opens when the breech lever is pulled, revealing the hop up chamber. To re-cover it, the breech catch must be pressed, which mimics the breech drop of a firearm.

The second option is just an aesthetic addition that can be purchased in a variety of colors.

Bolt catches are most often made of a metal alloy. Today, CNC milled aerospace grade duralumin, which is then anodized to a variety of colors, is becoming more common. And as with the trigger and magazine catch, this part can be color matched to the rest of the gun body.

But we have to fix it in the body of the gun somehow. There are 2 ways of fixing it, either with a pin that must be tapped out in case of replacement, or loosely inserted into the lower receiver of the gun, as we can see in Specna arms.
