Glues / Tapes

Glues / Tapes

Sometimes it is necessary to glue one part to another, and this is what different adhesives are used for. It used to be that you used a second glue to glue everything. Today we have a large number of adhesives for specific jobs, such as gluing wood, rubber, plastic or metal.

In airsoft we often glue impact rubber to the cylinder head there.

Teflon tapes also belong in this section. Their purpose is sealing, everyone knows that, but not everyone knows that in airsoft we can't apply it everywhere. Where it can be used is to seal between the cylinder head and the cylinder.
But using it under the cylinder head is a last resort before possibly buying a new part. It is always better to try using new and thicker o-rings first. It is definitely not a good move to use tape on a brand new cylinder head, here on the contrary, tape can cause problems.

Definitely no tape belongs inside the nozzle or under the o ring on the piston head.

As we wrote earlier with the piston head chapter, sometimes taped bolts are needed. Just using metal glue will have the effect that no one will ever take the bolt off again, and that can be a problem in a future case of upgrading or replacing the part.
Thread adhesive is sold for this purpose. This glue is specially made so that the screw cannot loosen by itself, but can be unscrewed. There are 3 variations of strength, namely weak, medium and strong.
For airsoft, medium is the best to use (most often blue). For permanent bonding then the red variant is best.
