New Specna Arms Prime Series!

Spare parts Review

The Specna Arms brand is coming to the market with a new Prime line. It is a groundbreaking line of airsoft replicas, where for the first time we can find factory brushless motors along with a supercharged processor unit with Bluetooth control. You can read what all the new Prime series has to offer in the article.

New Specna Arms Prime Series!

Specna Arms Prime is here!

Combination of well-known models from the EDGE™ / EDGE™ 2.0 series along with new internal components. The Prime series offers replicas licensed by companies such as Rock River Arms or Daniel Defense.

All of this, and much more, makes the Specna Arms Prime an interesting option for airsoft players who are looking for a replica that offers very high performance, quality and a premium nano coating on the weapon's body right out of the box, all without having to sacrifice their time and finances for further upgrades.

New Prime series - High-End AEG out of the box?

As with the Edge and Core series, the Prime series comes with licensed stamping from Rock River Arms and Daniel Defense.  This fact also gives us a clear indication that the output control and workmanship will be of a high standard. All replicas are protected by a nano coating that prevents easy scratching of the replica and gives a matte finish.

The backbone of the entire Prime series is the new, advanced AetherTM gearbox, which we'll discuss below. Along with it Specna also brings a new Hop-Up chamber with true TDC pressure, which can be found for example in top Retro Arms or Maxx chambers. The new Flat Hop-Up rubber HeliumTM works perfectly with the TDC.

The barrel is also a change from the older series. Compared to the original diameter of 6.03mm, the manufacturer decided to use more precision 6.02mm.

But the alpha and omega of the Prime series is the brushless engine. Until now, we've always had to buy this as an additional, not exactly cheap upgrade. But Specna has shown that it's not afraid of that and has served it to us from the factory. Perfect responsiveness, minimal power consumption and super RPS, all of which we can look forward to with the Prime series thanks to the brushless engine

And of course, the icing on the cake is the ETU unit, which is also compatible with the carbonless engine. We can find two new ETU units in the Prime series - the Kestrel and the Aester II.  What the units offer us, we can read here.

New AetherTM Gearbox

So far we could find in the Edge and Edge 2.0 series the OrionTM mechabox, which was already equipped with a relatively good air handling system, polished radii, QD adjustment for quick spring change and above all a mosfet or ASTER ETU unit from Gate.

The Prime series is already equipped with the new AetherTM gearbox, with which we can look forward to several new features.

The air system consists of a polymer piston, of course, with steel teeth and a metal piston head. The steel cylinder with notches that help to dissipate heat better is sealed perfectly with two sealing rings on the cylinder head. A sealing ring is also found on the metal nozzle.

All of this runs on 16:1 CNC wheels, which is something we see in all high-end upgrade kits these days. The wheels are seated in 8mm steel bearings. Two of the bearings are ball bearings and the manufacturer used plain bearings for the center wheel.

The brain of the whole gearbox is the Aster II ETU unit from Gate or the new Kestrel unit, which we will describe below. As with the Edge 2.0 series, there is a special 90° adjustable trigger now called Quantum Trigger 2. This, together with the ETU unit, will be appreciated especially for the great response and short running time when "tapping".

What about the outside of the gearbox?

Of course, the mechabox retains the QD adjustment for quick spring change. The manufacturer has retained the system adopted from the Edge 2.0 series. Thus, you don't need a long screwdriver to change the spring and the spring is easily replaced by simply removing the whole tube.

One of the most important elements of the AetherTM gearbox is its reinforcement in the front part of the mechabox. However, this is now a thing of the past thanks to the extra material added in the most stressed areas. This is also helped by the drilled radius in the front but now also in the rear of the steel cylinder window.

Last but not least, we must not forget to mention the windows in the gearbox for checking the spring position during pre-cocking and adjusting the AOE, or, for example, for releasing the spring. Together with the bolt holes for perfect axis adjustment, the AetherTM mechabox is ideal for possible upgrades.

Brushless motor already from the factory?

If the Aster II and Kestrel are to be the brains of the lineup, the Dark MatterTM brushless engine must clearly be the heart. It's clearly the most groundbreaking feature we've seen in a production weapon to date.

What is the brushless motor?

Brushless motors are the latest generation of motors that, thanks to modern technology, no longer contain carbon brushes, which can burn over time, leading to a non-functioning replica.

Advantages of brushless motors:

  1. The main advantage of brushless motors is the extremely low power consumption. You can shoot up to 5 times more ammunition on one battery. So finally even small 1000mAh batteries that are stored in the forearm, for example, get a chance!
  2. Thanks to the absence of brushes, the motor can provide more power in even faster time. This is especially noticeable in the fast response and high cadence.
  3. No maintenance. As mentioned, there is no carbon firing. So you won't have to deal with replacing them in the future either.

Aster II & Kestrel ETU Unit

The Prime series comes to market with two different ETU units. Why two units, you ask? There's something for everyone. The biggest difference is the control options. While the Kestrel unit only offers mechanical trigger control, the Aster II now offers Bluetooth control via an app as a basic feature. So we believe that technology enthusiasts will be happy to pay extra for this app option, just as they would with, for example, the competing Leviathan. We expect that the Aster II will also have significantly more varied options for setting e.g. shutter sensitivity, pre-cocking etc. thanks to the app.

However, some may find the use of the mobile app unnecessary as well as a lot of advanced settings and all they require from the processor unit is basic settings and replica protection itself.  For these players, the Kestrel unit is right there.

So what can these ETU units do?

Kestrel
  • Trigger pre-cocking (5 stages with piston position memory function)
  • active brake
  • monitoring of the entire cycle of the round with each shot
  • protection of the mechabox in case of engine damage
  • protection against battery drain
  • high/low voltage protection
  • works with both conventional and carbonless motors
Aster II
  • Bluetooth adapter with mobile app control
  • trigger sensitivity adjustment
  • binary trigger
  • battery and motor protection
  • pre-cocking settings
  • active brake
  • battery under-discharge protection
  • sniper mode
  • monitoring of the entire cycle of the round with each shot
  • high/low voltage protection
  • works with both conventional and carbonless motors

Závěr

The Prime series from Specna Arms targets players with high demands. Simply put, here we have an out-of-the-box gun that you will dominate with right out of the box.

Of course, we know the golden Czech hands and we know very well that even so, there is always something that can be exchanged for a better part from after market products. AetherTM gearbox is an ideal platform for future upgrades and upgrades.

So what are you waiting for! Get your own Prime too!
