Chestrigs Neuvedeno

The Chestrig is basically just a support system, the purpose of which is to attach (usually to the front and sides of the body) magazine pouches and other equipment. The back and chest of the chestrig are loose, so the user is significantly more mobile than with a vest. Precisely because of their compactness and light weight, chestrigs are widely used for so-called "green" fighting in wooded areas.

Attaching the gear to the chestrig

Most chestrigs have fixed magazines and are pre-prepared for a specific type of replica, more precisely - magazines (Ak, AR15/m4, etc.). On the other hand, some chestrigs can serve directly as a platform and it is possible to configure the magazines according to your preferences and needs, but primarily chestrigs are sold in a composition of magazines suitable for AR or AK platforms.

Our tip:
On newer models of the chestrig, the insert of the magazine pouches can be changed.
The interchangeable magazine insert is a universal insert that can be easily swapped out and allows you to quickly reconfigure your gear depending on what magazines you are currently using (for example, for M4, AK, G36 or SMG magazines). This makes the gear more flexible and adaptable.

Do the chestrigs have a size?

Chestrips have a great advantage in that as a strap, there is no need to differentiate sizes. A person who is 70kg can adjust a chestrig just as well as a person with 120kg. This is the great advantage of fully adjusting to each body shape, so that the chestrig does not protrude anywhere, does not press and is comfortable and firm at the same time. Be especially careful with the hips, as we've experienced scratched or bruised hips after tightening for thinner people, but it's nothing that can't be dealt with!

What to look for when choosing

Appropriate platform selection

The most important factor when choosing a chestrig will be choosing the right composition and distribution of pouches that will be suitable for you. Some people may prefer more magazine pouches, while others may prefer more grenade or pistol pouches, so the individual's preferences and playing style must be taken into account.
This will determine whether it is more suitable for you already fitted chestrig with the pouches from the manufacturer, or it is better to choose the carrier itself, which you will fit according to your own.

Our tip:
Of course, don't forget to adjust the size correctly and don't forget the shoulder padding, which you will appreciate after hours of wearing.

The right quality and manufacturer is the key to chestrig

Another important factor is the quality of the chestrig itself, and the price level is related to this. As this is equipment that can serve you for many years, quality is key. The cheapest chestrigs are unlikely to last you years of regular use.

Among the cheapest chestrigs are manufacturers such as GFC, Combat zone tactical or Emerson. You can buy these carrier systems from just a few hundred crowns, in various camouflage patterns and designs.

Among the middle class, which is qualitatively good and has a great price/performance ratio include manufacturers such as Nuprol, Primal Gear, Helikon-Tex or Pew Tactical or Conquer. Here we can meet really good copies of chestrigs even for sharp use.
This quality class of this tactical equipment is the most popular among airsoft players, and with reasonable use it will last for years. These chestrigs, ideal for airsoft, can be purchased for around 40-80 Euro.

Premium chestrigs can be found at the manufacturers like Direct Action, Clawgear etc...

Our tip:
Smaller recommendations for beginners and advanced
Select the chestrig only after you have selected the primary replica to play airsoft with. Only then will you know which chestrig will be the most suitable for you. In case you are a seasoned veteran, you already know what your cup of coffee is, so choose wisely and don't be afraid to try out our chestrig so you know it's right for you.

Fastening of chestrigs

The most common chestrigs have a fastening on the sides, so that it is easily accessible to the user even after putting it on the body, so that he can fasten the chestrig himself without any problems. In the large number of cases, chestrigs are fastened with plastic clips, on the side and shoulders.

Advantage of chestrig over vests

Chestrig in today's modern times is very widespread in the airsoft community. Many people are realizing that mobility and speed can win the day, especially in the case of woodland games for flags and points where moving quickly can be crucial. That's where it's mostly recommended, more so in natural conditions like woods, meadows, etc. Although the chestrig doesn't offer the protection or amount of space for attaching pouches like a vest, more demanding users can still get by with plenty of pouches, you just need to choose the right chestrig for you. Alternatively, you can customize it using the attachment systems we have discussed in more detail in the tactical vest category.

Storage space of chestrigs

It is often a problem to pack everything you need, especially for larger events. As we have already said, you need to take into account your needs when choosing a chestrig so that it is sufficient for at least a few basic things like enough ammunition. Often, chestrigs are supplemented with combat belts and backpacks, which are able to give you additional ample space for everything you need, but without sacrificing high mobility.

Is the chestrig suitable for children?

Definitely yes! No need to worry about sizing, chestrigs are great to adjust and can easily accommodate smaller users. The only thing we would look out for in this case is when choosing one for a child, see if the child wants more protection and is not afraid of being hit. Smaller children often have a harder time with pain, and let's face it, sometimes even airsoft can hurt. That being said, a chestrig as opposed to a vest does not have the hips, chest, neck, or back protection and a hit is more likely to hit you in an exposed area. But it all comes back to breathability and light weight.
